Home Again After Deployment

Jenneane Musegades and Elaine Dumler

If there is one thing that brought Jenneane and Mike Musegades together during their 17-year marriage, it was learning how to handle their absence from one another. With Mike's seven military deployments, the couple had to learn how to grow as husband and wife -- even while apart.
According to Jenneane, it was her faith in God that got her and Mike through those demanding times. Over the course of their early married life, the couple was separated by numerous "workups" or mini-deployments of two to three weeks in preparation for Mike's longer service deployments. These absences came during critical child-raising years for their two girls, Michele and Lila.
Today, however, the situation is different -- and more normal -- as Jenneane and Mike are now home together on a full-time basis. He is retired from the military and is studying at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis to become a pastor. He will be serving his vicarage year at Zion Lutheran in Staunton, Illinois, and will graduate in May 2012. Jenneane is pleased to have him home.
